Dr. Gillard earned her Doctor of Philosophy in PsychoEducational Processes, her Advanced Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, and her B.S. in Occupational Therapy, all from Temple University. She served as Adjunct Associate Professor of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania and Research Scientist at Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute in Philadelphia. Her prior faculty positions have included inaugural Program Director at Salus University, Graduate Program Director at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, and Chairperson and Program Director of Occupational Therapy at Elizabethtown College. Teaching experience includes 14 years in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level. Her research has encompassed qualitative and quantitative studies in the scholarship of application and the scholarship of teaching and learning. She has published in The Occupational Therapy Journal of Research, The American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Topics in Stroke Rehabilitation and the American Journal of Physical Medicine Rehabilitation. Most recently she presented a paper on Educational Leadership to an international audience of occupational therapists. She is a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association, awarded for exemplary leadership, innovative educational approaches and dedicated scholarship.
