Derek Clewley graduated from the University of Montana in 2002 with a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy and later obtained his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree through Shenandoah University. In 2006 he achieved board certification as an orthopaedic clinical specialist. He is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association including the orthopaedic and research sections and recently chaired the programming committee for the 2012 APTA annual conference.   Derek graduated from Evidence In Motion’s manual therapy fellowship program in 2010, part of the initial fellowship cohort, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy. Currently, he is enrolled at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions as a PhD student in the orthopaedic and sports sciences program. He is expecting PhD candidacy in August of 2013 with expected dissertation completion / graduation in 2015. Primary research interests are trigger point dry needling and manual physical therapy. He serves as faculty for Evidence In Motion’s residency, fellowship and tDPT program in the online management courses and onsite dry needling courses. He is also adjunct faculty with Mercer University in Atlanta GA. He serves as the BenchMark Physical Therapy coordinator of clinical education and is also a member of the committee of clinical excellence at BenchMark. Most recently, he has taken on the role of Director of Residency Programs for BenchMark Physical Therapy.
